Throughout high school, I’ve grown interested in environmental policy — not just as an abstract idea, but as a practical way to address real-world issues like food waste and resource inequality. After studying food systems at scale, I began to understand how much we waste in the United States compared to needs around the world. That realization pushed me toward wanting to work on solutions that are realistic, efficient, and impactful.
At Long Beach Poly, I’ve tried to grow not just academically, but as a teammate and someone others can rely on. Through water polo and swimming, I’ve learned how to stay committed even when things don’t go my way. Over time, I’ve become someone younger teammates feel comfortable coming to for support — something that matters to me because I know how much that kind of guidance I needed, just a few years ago.
I’ve also challenged myself outside of school by starting a small baking business. What began as something simple turned into a real learning experience in listening to others, improving based on feedback, and following through. That experience showed me how important it is to pay attention, adapt, and take responsibility for outcomes — skills I hope to carry into my future work.
